The 2017 Law & Freedom Conference

The 2017 Law & Freedom Conference

News & Events | Nov 23, 2016

The Canadian Constitution Foundation will host its annual Law & Freedom Conference between January 6 – 8, 2017. The conference will be held at Hart House at the University of Toronto, which located at 7 Hart House Circle. This year’s speakers include the Honourable Chief Justice Glenn D. Joyal of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, Professor Emmett Macfarlane of the University of Waterloo, Peter McCaffery, the Director of Research at the Manning Centre, and many more.

This will be my third consecutive year attending the Law & Freedom Conference. Each year, I have been very impressed with the calibre of presenters and panelists, and with the level of discourse. Last year, I had the great honour of introducing the keynote speaker, the Honourable Justice David Stratas of the Federal Court of Appeal. This year, I am again honoured to be taking part in a panel discussion on the subject of inter-provincial trade. The subject of my remarks will be based on my recent paper on the Comeau decision, which can be read here. I have also recently added a paper to SSRN on federalism generally, which can be read here.

This year’s conference is poised to be excellent. You can register and learn more about the conference here. Registration is $100 until November 30 and $200 after that, so I would encourage everyone to sign up right away.
