On Monday, March 21, 2016, the Runnymede Society will host a debate at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.<\/p>\n

The title of the debate is:\u00a0The Legitimacy of the Welfare State: Governments in Pursuit of the Public Good. Bruce Pardy, Professor of Law at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, will debate Jason MacLean, Assistant Professor of Law at Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, Lakehead University, on the issue of whether state regulation is a legitimate means of pursuing the public good. Professor Pardy will argue against state regulation and in favour of markets, while Professor MacLean will argue in favour of state regulation.<\/p>\n

The debate is being held at\u00a0Emmanuel College- EM 302 between 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. on March 21. If you are able to attend, please contact Joanna Baron at jbaron@theccf.ca.<\/p>\n
